Leo Rautins NBLC Commissioner? Empty Leo Rautins NBLC Commissioner?

Post by JJSA Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:42 am

According to Morris Dalla Costa of the London Free Press, Leo Rautins was in talks with the NBLC to become league commissioner last off-season, but for unknown reasons the talks fell though. The league then hired the ever silent and elusive  Paul Riley. Talk about a step down...

According to Dalla Costa, Rautins says he is still open to the job. PLEASE HIRE THIS MAN!

From that article he is the man for the job. TV is defeintely a function that is needed. According to Rautins he pointed out 2 franchises who are doing it the right way in London and Halifax.
Also he said he would get at least a 15 game package on TV. I suspect that he may have also chose London and Halifax is because of their presentation on their respective networks RogersTV London and Eastlink in Halifax.
With both teams, among others, are already broadcasting the games it would be only a matter to get those broadcasts Simulcast on a Network. NBATV Canada Comes to mind as they simulcast; NBA D League games, WNBA, and Euro league. so for the Network it will be on minimal casts since the Broadcasts are already happening.
SN360 line up includes NASL soccer and CIS sports so having the NBLC Broadcast simulcast on SN360 is not a stretch at all.

The NBLC by having Leo as the commissioner could lead to something that should be something that should be a consideration.
Thae Canadian Mens Basketball National Program should be partnering with the NBLC.
There is becoming a very big influx of good young basketball players coming out of Canada and playing in the NCAA.
Some are breaking into the NBA now, others are working there way trough the NBA D league which are both good for the Canadian Mens National Basketball Program.
Now for the others coming out of the NCAA and the CIS having the National team partnering with the NBLC and begin leading those players not in the NBA or D League to begin to stay home and not to travel over sees to Europe

The National team having all of their players in one of the three leagues NBA, D-League, or NBLC the Canadian National Program will be able to set up a program similar to what USA Basketball and the NBA has.

It will not happen over night but the Canadian National Team starting shooting G Andy Routins is not in the NBA or D-League beginning to get him and tose like him into the NBLC basektball fans in Canada will begin to take notice as well as National Networks.
IMHO

Certainly by the way Riley's handling the NBLC right now isn't good. I hope the NBLC considers a new commissioner during off-season.
