Move to Civic Centre in 2014/2015?
Can anyone confirm if the Skyhawks plan to move to the Civic Centre next season when the renovations at Lansdowne are complete? I've read a couple of articles that speculate that it may be the case, and we know the 67's will be moving back to the Civic Centre; but there is nothing official from the Skyhawks yet as far as I can find.
Personally, I think it's a no brainer for the Hawks to move downtown asap. The location of the Canadian Tire Centre is simply too far out, and the poor location even impacts the Sens; and the 67's attendance has plummeted in their 3 seasons there, so you can imagine what it's doing to the Hawks attendance as well.
Another issue with the Canadian Tire Centre is that it's just too big for the NBLC at this point. Even with 6,000 people there it would feel like 600. The Civic Centre would roughly 10,000 for basketball (and I think the Hawks would be wise to curtain off some of that to bring capacity to around 6,000 max for the time being.
With the Redblacks and the 67's at the newly renovated Lansdowne with all the new retail etc, it will clearly be the place to be, rather than the massive arena way out on the highway.

From the reports that I have read on the OSEG site is that both the SkyHawks and 67's are only playing at the tire center until the civic center reopens.
It is also written on Wikipedia that they will be playing at the civic center.

It's worth noting that the Civic Centre is now known as TD Place Arena. Hopefully it will be the Skyhawks home next season, as Lansdowne will without a doubt be the place to be in Ottawa once all renovations are completed and the RedBlacks kickoff!

Here is a tiny update straight from Gus Takkale.
"We're working on setting up a new venue agreement," he said. "As for now, we've got to let everything sink in."
He acknowledged the team has learned a few things that should help them if the SkyHawks come back next season.
"We've learned that Kanata is far," he said with a smile.
Let's hope that the new venue is TD Place!

Location in TD Place in the middle of all of the action in the new Landsdale entertainment community should be a great fit for the SkyHawks.
When fans were asked they said too far for games and getting invloved with the Universities.
With the Ravens being the top U BBall team in Canada I can see this being a pefect place for an NBLC franchise to flourish.
Like any pro team having local University and players from Ottawa attedning training camps each year will bring a positive vibe.
Wondering if partnering with the OSEG like the FURY did for the soccer leg. SkyHawk owners joining the group as the basketball leg
