All Star Game

According to Commissioner Riley the league is "negotiating final details" and can "expect an announcement real soon" regarding the location of this season's All Star Game. It's interesting to note that according to Morris Dalla Costa of the London Free Press the London Lightning (Who you would think would be the best location to host it this season) are not negotiating to host it.
I'm still going to guess that it will be hosted by a Central division team since the Atlantic has hosted it the past two seasons (Halifax in 2011/2012 and Saint John in 2012/2013) and you would imagine that the league would like to alternate it from Atlantic to Central each year.
Another question that I feel is worth raising is when the ASG should be held. The past two years it has been held after the end of the championship final. In my opinion the league has been shooting itself in the foot straight away with the timing of this. After the finals VERY few people are paying attention. Call me a traditionalist but I really feel having All-Star Weekend at the mid point of the season is clearly the way to go; everyone is paying attention and excited and the story lines of the season are in full swing.

I just had a thought....I think the league would be crazy to have this year's ASG anywhere other then at Caesars Windsor. Would make for an excellent atmosphere of events all weekend long and would probably bring in fans from every NBLC city in the country more than any other city would.

I love the idea. I can completely see it happening. Ceasers is already having a tough time this season and if the "Clash at the Colosseum" game goes well, this would be a great for Ceasers.

No, at least the Casino wasn't. They were starting to lay people off...they're losing money.

I believe that is the first time I've ever heard of a casino finding a way to lose money. Only in Windsor.

Another thought, Ceasers is also it's own hotel, so it'll probably be good for the hotel too.

Well, given that the playoffs start a few days from now, I'm going to go ahead and assume that there is no All-Star game this season...

Yeah, but it's always announced during the first third of the season rather than during or after the playoffs.

As I have been following the NBL of Canada situation I would have to agree that not having an All Star game at the mid season point is sort of shooting the league in its own foot.
Like any new league it is going through its problems.
Having an All Star after the Finals is anti climatic, so it may be best for this season not to have an All Star Game.
Instead to promote the league having an All Star game to begin the season next years 2014-2015 could be something out of the box but would have the off season to promote it and have the players being selected being the best from this seasons players who are starting next season on a NBLC roster.
LOCATION: I can think of three possible locations. The obvious would be in London who have by far the best fan support in the league.
Second Ottawa. the SkyHawks will be moving to their permanent home next season at the Landsdowne TD Place arena. With the Arena being owned by the OSEG and the excitement still fresh in the air it can be promoted very well in Ottawa.
Also the very successful Carleton Ravens basketball program could also be involved. Perhaps having a double-header with the Ravens playing the first part vs one of the NCAA teams that they usually schedule for the pre season.
Would not be a bad thing if a Ravens player or two were to be playing in the league next season participate in the All Star game.
Third: FirstOntario Centre (copps) Hamilton. Now being managed by Global Spectrum they know how to promote events. Possibility of having team in Hamilton in the future possibily even next season.
Also is centrally located pretty well with London and Windsor to the south and the two GTA teams to the North asd Ottawa also further North.
Also Global Sports would be more likley to be able to find a good sponsor and a Network to Broadcast the game.
NBA TV Canada, Sportnet (Ontario,360, or other),TSN2
Or have RogersTV London, RogersTV Ottawa, or Hamilton Cable 14 Broadcast the game and offer the simucast to one of the National Networks to televise

I can't believe they made the announcement just 1 month before it actually takes place. Seriously, what are they thinking?
They should really have just called the whole thing off for this season and brought it back next year a the mid way point of the season.

I agree, that's when people are interested.
I also think they could make the game mean something, like who gets home court advantage in finals. Like the MLB.
