Today the NBL announced that Ottawa was awarded at NBL Franchise to begin play in 2012+2013 season one great rivalry for the Jazz.

Not even a three hour drive between those cities, is it? A regional rivalry between the two team sounds pretty solid to me.

It's less than 3 hours from Montreal to Ottawa... is about approx 1h30.

I don't know if the rivalry will work, but it's the more close team for montreal, it's a possibility.. What's I'm sure it's a great add for the NBL

This reminds me of the rivalry of London and Windsor. But not just Basketball. ^-^

I think the league is missing out on a big rivalry between Ottawa and Montreal by moving Montreal to the Atlantic and adding Ottawa to the Central. I can understand that they want to keep it equal by having 5 teams in each division but I really feel that having 6 in the Central and 4 in the Atlantic for the time being might have been the best way to go. To get the most out of a no brainer rivalry Ottawa and Montreal need to be in the same division.

We'll also see if Ottawa will be as good as an expansion team as Windsor was. If so, Montreal has no chance.
